The Problem

Recently new owners of a lovely property in Knutsford, Cheshire quickly realised their lovely orangery presented numerous problems with the amount of the sun's heat entering through the large glazed roof. First of all was the worry regarding UV light casting upon their large oak dining table as this would undoubtedly lead to fading and discolouring along with other furnishings. Secondly, the orangery is south facing so therefore would receive sunlight from sunrise to sunset, which should be a lovely addition to this home, however not when it makes this orangery so uncomfortable due to the heat build up and glare it received. Blinds wasn't an option as they would take all of the natural light away from the orangery glazed roof, they attract several different insects and flies leading them to build up. Furthermore, they are extremely difficult to clean.

Our Solution

We arranged a survey appointment with the customer, where we checked the roof glass type to ensure it was safe for an application of solar control window film. We took measurements of the glass then moved onto to discussing options of suitable window film types which would resolve their issues. The customer swiftly came to a decision regarding the film type they would choose to be installed after seeing photos of previous completed installations, leaving them satisfied this would resolve their current issues.

The Window Film We Used

The window film used was our extremely popular Low Reflective Solar Control, which would reduce solar energy by 70% and glare by 80% whilst 99% of those harmful UV rays are blocked from entering too. All glass to be treated was thoroughly cleaned prior to installing the window film. The whole installation took approximately 6 hours to complete. Within a week, the customer had expressed how happy they are with the work carried out and the results achieved from the window film - ultimately solving their problems.
