The Problem
An all to familiar problem, again its that sun causing problems and this one is no exception. An orangery in Warrington not being used as often as it could be due to being too hot and also the furniture has to be covered with blankets to try and stop the sun bleaching them. They'd had enough and it was time to do something about it, the owners had contemplated having the roof change for a solid roof which would solve both problems but they preferred not to take this option as this would make the connecting room darker and would be costly too. Friends of there's had recommended that they get in contact with us as they'd had an installation of solar film to their conservatory and said they had wished they'd done it years ago.
Our Solution
We arrange a free survey to visit them on a sunny day so we could see exactly how much of a problem they were experiencing. We took measurements, checked the glass was suitable to have solar film installed and talked with them to find out how we could resolve their issues. We noticed the glass was of a grey colour and not completely clear so we explained that the window film would enhance this colour slightly. They explained that they were worried that albeit there was window films that would solve the issues they have in the summer months they didn't want it to block the sun in the winter months. We showed them a solar film which would help in the summer but wouldn't block all the winter sun out either and so would be a good balance for all year round.
The Window Film We Used
Our Optitune 40 solar film was the one to do this, it reduces 55% of solar energy and glare, stops 99% of UV light passing through to help with fading issues and would still allow some heat from the sun to still pass through during winter so not making it cold. We installed it to all roof units and the gable end. This window film is barely noticeable when installed and is great for the amount of natural light it allows to be transmitted through. They were absolutely thrilled with the end result, it took just 4 hours to complete the installation. Now they have an orangery that they can use without the discomfort they were experiencing previously and with peace of mind the window film will be there for many years to come with our 10 year warranty.
