Orangery Glass Roof Heat Reducing Window Film Crewe

Glare And Heat Reduction

Location

Crewe Cheshire

The Problem

An Orangery with a clear glass roof letting the sun's heat shine through causing the Orangery to heat up like a sauna. The glare meant sitting inside was unbearable too. The heat was then transferring throughout the rest of the house and causing major discomfort. Roof blinds was the initial solution thought, though cost was way beyond what was reasonable and they would reduce the light levels considerably as well as attracting insects and are difficult to keep clean. We was also asked if we could reduce the heat gain entering from the glass roof above the main entrance door to the house.

Our Solution

As always an initial free survey was carried out to measure up and check the roof glazing of the orangery and over the front door entrance was safe to apply any solar control window film and then on to discuss which window films would address the issues and how they would help and appear.

The Window Film We Used

We applied, internally our Lower Mirror Neutral Grey 20 Solar Control to the Orangery (70% solar energy rejection) (80% glare reduction) and Lower Mirror Neutral Grey 35 to the main entrance glass roof (61% solar energy 60% glare reduction) both stop 99% of Ultra Violet rays. A window film which has lesser internal and external reflection than traditional solar control window films yet still offers excellent solar energy and glare reduction whilst allowing natural light to pass through thus not making any room dark. The customer also requested we apply the same window film LMNG 20 to all the vertical glazing in the orangery to provide them with more privacy from neighbours, again eliminates the need for blinds or curtains. All the solar control window film was installed in 1 day with no disruption to the owners.
