Privacy And Unwanted Heat

The Problem

Heat building up inside from the sun and privacy were the problem at this big lovely new house. The customer had recently had electric blinds installed, which worked great for privacy though they made the room darker when being used and also prevented them from seeing outside through the windows. The blinds didn't really help with the heat issue either, as the suns heat was able to filter around the blinds. The apex part of the windows were extremely expensive to have blinds installed and so we were called for an alternative and more effective solution to be found.

Our Solution

We discussed what the customer would like to achieve and what they didn't want from an installation of our window films. It was agreed a window film that would reduce heat entering through the windows whilst also providing privacy so they didn't have to have the blinds in use in the daytime. We explained that the film we suggested would also reduce the fading of furnishings to which they said was something they had never thought could be achieved. It was quite straight forward that we were going to use a solar control window film, all we needed to do was find one which doesn't stop the natural light entering and one that doesn't obscure their views. All bedrooms were going to be treated and two thirds of the ground floor windows too.

The Window Film We Used

We used a medium daytime solar reflective silver solar control window film, perfect for this situation and installed it to the internal side of the glazing. The blinds would provide privacy once nightfall fell so this wasn't going to cause any problems and would provide the sought after results they wanted during the daytime. This window film reduces heat gain by up to 79%, glare 80% and will stop 99% of UV light passing through complete with a 10 year warranty.
The installation took one full day to complete. The customer was so pleased that the film did what we said it would do, after 4 months we were back at the same house to install the same window film to the rest of the house.
