Due to the increased spread of the Omicron virus, we are limiting our surveys to an absolute minimum. Installations will be carried out under strict guidelines. We follow all Government guidelines relating to COVID-19. Face coverings will be worn at all times by our staff and social distancing will be adhered to. When any of our staff attend your home or business we would ask that you, where possible also do the same. None of our offices are open to the public. If you would like to speak to us you can telephone or email and we will be happy to help. Stay Safe!
Here are some questions and answers which may help you. If you can't find the answer you're looking for drop us an email or telephone us and a member of our team will be able to help.
Unless it is absolutely necessary for you to have a survey we will not be carrying them out at the moment, however we will ask you to provide as much detail as you can. We will ask for window sizes and photos and explain how to check the type of glass. We can then still provide you with a quotation and discuss and agree with you how we would carry out your installation safely.
In most cases the answer is yes but we need to check the glass type is safe to apply the solar film. This is something you can do yourself by looking at the corner of the glass for a "kite mark" usually etched in to the glass by the glass manufacturer and it may say Lam short for Laminated or TGH meaning Toughened and so on or we can do this on your survey.
Solar film or one way window film can be safely applied to almost every glass type except laminated glass where an external application is required. So as long as you don't live on the 10th floor of a building this is usually achieved by using scaffolding (though this does add to the cost).
Polycarbonate can have a Solar Reflective film called Blister Free Reflective Silver or Solar Control Coolkote only as these two window films are proven not to react with polycarbonate as all other window films do, causing a reaction with the film producing big blisters or bubbles. This not only damages your polycarbonate, its unsightly too.
Good question and one we get asked often. It's impossible to give an accurate quote/cost without measuring the width and length of every window panel/unit that requires window film. We could under-price or over-price without the actual dimensions, plus when we come to see you we are able to show you samples of window films as well as pictures of completed installations. We offer a free no obligation quotation service for residential customers.
We don't charge for surveys to residential customers nor for providing you with a quotation .You can either call us at any of our offices or use our enquiry form on the "Contact Us" page. You can send us a direct email simply asking for a quotation, be sure to include your postcode and as much detail as possible as to where you would like the film installing and what you would like the film to do for you i.e. reduce heat, help slow down fading, stop nosey neighbours looking through your windows etc.
Solar window film acts like glass does, if you were to turn lights on in a room at night you wouldn't be able to see out through the windows, it's the same for solar film that's why we call it daytime privacy. Most people draw curtains at night so this doesn't become an issue.
Yes we understand people may only be available at weekends that's why we are open 7 days a week and we don't charge any more if we have to carry out your installation at a weekend as we do in the week.
Our senior installer has been installing window films since 1993 when he was 19 years old and he's still installing our window films now so rest assured you get a perfect installation and service as you do from all our installers.
The warranty we offer with every installation covers peeling, bubbling, distorting, yellowing, adhesive failure and pretty much anything else as long as it is the window film that's faulty and its not been peeled by someone or interfered with in anyway then we will honour the warranty. Our window films are of such high quality we have never had any faults in all our 27 years of installing them.
Usually your surveyor will be able to show you pictures of most of our window films from previously completed installations, just ask. Obviously if you are having clear safety/security window film then showing you a photo won't actually show the film as its clear.
Yes you can. We offer a supply only service where we will pre cut your film to the dimensions you give us and post it out to you. We would recommend letting us do the installation for you as it could end up costing you more in the long run unless you have done it before or you're good with DIY. Unfortunately we can't offer any warranty with our supply only window films.
The installer will thoroughly clean all the windows to be treated prior to applying the film so there's no need for you to do this. Once the window film is installed we as you not to touch or clean them for 30 days, this is to allow for the drying period after which normal cleaning can resume with no abrasives. Our films all have a "Scratch Resistant" to help protect them during normal handling and cleaning practises.
Usually we will apply the film to the inside unless access or the glass type doesn't permit this as there is more choice of internal window films available than external window films. Window films have advanced so much that 15 years ago there were only a small range of external films available and the warranty offered by the manufactures was as little as 3 years where now they offer the same 10 years as you receive with internal window films.
Yes they are called Low E window films which rather than losing most of the heat you pay for in your house through glass windows these window films will radiate more than 77% of the heat back in to the room during winter and can reduce heat gain by up to 79% during the summer months. These are very popular window films especially for conservatories, orangeries and lanterns where heat rises and escapes.
Our completely clear UV window film stops 100% of Ultraviolet rays from passing through albeit its not just UV rays that cause fading though an installation of this window film will considerably slow any fading down. ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT Testing and science have shown that contrary to common understanding ultraviolet light only makes up about 40 percent of the cause of furniture fading. This is the most harmful part of sunlight, and it certainly speeds along the fading process. One of the most notable benefits of the window film we install is that it reduces up to 99 percent of ultraviolet light. If only UV light was the only cause of furniture fading! VISIBLE LIGHT In addition to UV rays, visible light (such as the rays of sunlight you see on a sunny day) makes up about 25 percent of the cause of fading. Window film with darker tinting can help to reflect and/or block some of the visible light that is fading your furniture. SOLAR HEAT Solar heat - the warm sun that you feel - also causes furniture to fade. It makes up another 25 percent of the cause. Our window tinting solutions can provide some heat rejection benefits to reduce this cause of furniture fading. OTHER FACTORS While window film can reduce and slow down fading with all of the above causes, it unfortunately has no effect on the remaining 10 percent of the cause of fading. Some factors making up this 10 percent include interior lighting, humidity, pollutants, and the stability and quality of the dyes and your furniture, itself.
